The term "new money" has two possible meanings:
① The money that a rich person has made.
② People who made or earned their wealth on their own accord, and they were not born into a wealthy family or grew up in wealthy culture.
We don't associate with Mike and his family, they are new money
and don't share the same values as us.
In the novel The Great Gatsby, there is a role of new money
and old money, not a new form of currency, but those who are new to wealth, and those who have had it in their families for a long time.
在小说《了不起的盖茨比》中，有"new money" 和"old money" 的两种角色，这并不是指新、旧的货币形式，而是分别指那些新获得财富的人，以及那些世代贵族。
Wealthy persons whose fortunes are newly acquired, and who are therefore perceived to lack the refinement of those who were raised wealthy.
Some new-rich guys
want to eat what ordinary people cannot eat in order to show off their wealth.
